£600 donation to SYCF by Fishlake Flood Book Group
South Yorkshire’s Community Foundation (SYCF) would like to thank Fishlake Flood Book Group, who in a recent letter to our Chief Executive Ruth Willis, confirmed the donation of over £600 to support people affected by flooding, through the sales of their book Flood: The Stories of a Village Underwater.
To help provide an outlet for villagers to talk about the traumatic events of the flooding in 2019 and its aftermath, with funding provided by SYCF, the Group produced a book filled with impactful experiences and images from local residents that reminds communities of that challenging time. Proceeds from the book’s sales benefited local residents and supported their mental health.
We are happy to accept the extremely generous donation by Fishlake Flood Group which will go towards the Flood Fund which we are holding for future disasters. What an achievement the book is, hence our copy is always in the office for everyone to read

Floods in 2019 across South Yorkshire devastated communities, including businesses and households, who were left with the task of not only dealing with the impact but also the slow journey to recovery.
South Yorkshire’s Community Foundation gave out over £1.4m to support 1,468 households and community groups to start the long-term resilience of communities.
