Harthill Village Hall
Harthill Village Hall serves as a “community hub” and is used nearly every day by up to 30 different groups. A mother and toddler group, over 60s club, fitness classes and indoor bowls and many more use the space. In addition to regular groups, the hall also hosts several ‘one-off’ events, such as charity fundraisers, plays, concerts and weddings.
A grant of £1,644 from the Loscar Wind Farm Community Fund programme has contributed towards the purchase of new chairs for the hall. With the over 60s and mothers and toddlers groups meeting regularly in the hall for long periods of time, there was a need for comfortable seating. There had been many complaints about the previous hard, plastic chairs which have been there for nearly 25 years. The new chairs fit in with the new modern decoration of the interior village hall. Participants at the hall are happier with the new chairs, as they provide a better environment for their events to take place. In response to the new chairs, there have been an increased number of bookings for private events, especially wedding receptions.
Better facilities allow larger and more successful events to take place.
For private events, there is a real importance for the setting to be professional and comfortable, and the addition of these chairs has helped to achieve that
Ian Lloyd, Group Leader
Overall, the addition of new chairs has helped to provide some consistency to the renovation of the interior hall, potentiated more private hire to help turn a profit for the hall and improved the comfort of groups which regularly use the hall. This benefits the local area as most of them use the hall for one reason or another, and increased investment in the hall will allow for new activities to take place in the future.
