The Surviving Winter Campaign will be launched again this November to keep us all warm this winter

LAST YEAR South Yorkshire Community Foundation launched the Surviving Winter Campaign for South Yorkshire with astounding results. Over £13,000 was raised to help the elderly and the vulnerable to pay their winter fuel bills. Nationally over £2.5 million was raised last year, clearly striking a chord within many to raise so much.
The Surviving Winter Campaign aims to help those who suffer most in the winter months due to Fuel Poverty, old age and/or disability. It does this by giving you the opportunity to donate, if you can, a little money to those who are less fortunate than yourself. You can donate in one of two ways, either by a normal donation or by donating in part or completely your winter fuel allowance if you receive it and don't feel you need it.
Fuel Poverty is set only to increase, with 3 million households predicated to be in Fuel Poverty by 2016. Many people across the UK have got nothing to look forward to this winter but stress and worry over how they can possibly afford their winter fuel bills. The National Debt line which offers free advice from debt advisors has said that it is currently receiving calls every 5 minutes from people worried about their gas and electricity bills.
It is clear that it more important now than ever to keep the success of the campaign last year continuing this year and for many more to come.
Winter can be a lonely and desolate time for many people but this year SYCF hopes that the Surviving Winter campaign will have even more success, that even more money can be raised and donated to families and individuals to give them some warmth and comfort this winter.
